FOLLOWING ARE THE STEPS TO PREPARE THE MUTABBAQ WITH ALOHA TUNA.
Mixture Preparation
- In a bowl, mix and combine the flour and salt as per the requirement.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing continuously until a soft dough forms.
- Paste dough with the hands on floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into golf ball-sized portions and let them rest, covered with a damp cloth, for at least 30 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- In a pan, heat cooking oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and cook until it smells good,
- Add minced meat and cook until browned.
- Mix well with ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and pepper.
- Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
Assemble the Mutabbaq
- Take one portion of the Mixture and roll it out into a thin, flat circle.
- Place a spoonful of the cooled filling in the center of the flat circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing them together.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
Fry the Mutabbaq
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer up to (175°C).
- Carefully place the Mutabbaq in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serve:
- Allow Mutabbaq to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Mutabbaq can be enjoyed on its own or with a dipping sauce.
