TASHREEB with Aloha BASMATI RICE… (Middle East Recipe)

Tashreeb with Aloha Basmati rice is a comforting and traditional dish that embodies a perfect balance of flavors and textures. This dish involves pieces of flatbread soaked in a fragrant, spiced broth and served over a bed of flavorful Aloha rice. The bread, with its sponge-like ability to absorb the savory essence of the broth, adds a delightful softness to the dish. The Aloha Basmati rice, cooked to aromatic perfection, complements the tender bread, offering a pleasing contrast in texture and taste. INGREDIENTS:

FOR THE CHICKEN / BROTH:
– 2-3 pieces of chicken (whole or pieces)
-1 large onion, chopped
– Salt and black pepper to taste
– Add 2 aloha chicken stock cubes
– 6-8 cups of water  
FOR THE ALOHA BASMATI RICE :
-2 cups of  Aloha’s long-grain Basmati rice
-1/4 cup of vegetable oil
-1 teaspoon of ground turmeric
– Salt to taste
– Fresh cilantro and lemon wedges for garnish.(optional)  

STEPS TO PREPARE THE TASHREEB WITH ALOHA RICE.

Instructions:

Cook the Aloha Basmati Rice

  • Rinse the Aloha Basmati Rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain it thoroughly.
  • In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the rice and fry for a few minutes until it becomes translucent.
  • Sprinkle the rice with turmeric and salt, and continue to fry for another minute.
  • Pour 3 1/2 cups of the warm chicken broth over the rice. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

Assemble the Tashreeb

  • In a serving dish, layer the Aloha rice.
  • Pour a generous amount of the remaining warm chicken broth over the Aloha rice.
  • Place the cooked chicken on top of the Aloha rice.
  • Finally, spoon the cooked rice on the chicken.

Garnish and Serve

  • Garnish the Tashreeb with fresh cilantro and lemon wedges, if suited.
  • Serve the Tashreeb Aloha Rice hot, and encourage your guests to squeeze lemon juice over their portion for added flavor.
