Tashreeb with Aloha Basmati rice is a comforting and traditional dish that embodies a perfect balance of flavors and textures. This dish involves pieces of flatbread soaked in a fragrant, spiced broth and served over a bed of flavorful Aloha rice. INGREDIENTS:
FOR THE CHICKEN / BROTH: – 2-3 pieces of chicken (whole or pieces) -1 large onion, chopped – Salt and black pepper to taste – Add 2 aloha chicken stock cubes – 6-8 cups of water | FOR THE ALOHA BASMATI RICE : -2 cups of Aloha’s long-grain Basmati rice -1/4 cup of vegetable oil -1 teaspoon of ground turmeric – Salt to taste – Fresh cilantro and lemon wedges for garnish.(optional) |
STEPS TO PREPARE THE TASHREEB WITH ALOHA RICE.
Instructions:
Cook the Aloha Basmati Rice
- Rinse the Aloha Basmati Rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain it thoroughly.
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the rice and fry for a few minutes until it becomes translucent.
- Sprinkle the rice with turmeric and salt, and continue to fry for another minute.
- Pour 3 1/2 cups of the warm chicken broth over the rice. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
Assemble the Tashreeb
- In a serving dish, layer the Aloha rice.
- Pour a generous amount of the remaining warm chicken broth over the Aloha rice.
- Place the cooked chicken on top of the Aloha rice.
- Finally, spoon the cooked rice on the chicken.
Garnish and Serve
- Garnish the Tashreeb with fresh cilantro and lemon wedges, if suited.
- Serve the Tashreeb Aloha Rice hot, and encourage your guests to squeeze lemon juice over their portion for added flavor.
